India the subcontinent, not just the country, has always been a visually strong landscape. The nature, the culture, the clothes, the people, and of course the art here has always been expressive and vibrant. Painters in the subcontinent, broke rules centuries ago, and developed the art in a unique manner. Today, I am proud to be presented as one such artist who is carrying forward legacy of visual art in this part of the world.
It came as a surprise to me, when Art Heritage organization wanted to put my newly published book, at the art-book exhibition; a collective exhibition of artists striving to take the expression in the hands of viewers, breaking the limits of gallery, and initiating a one on one dialogue. It is a bold step for a culture which is highly visual, because everyone is inherently trained to interpret visual art. Here, people grow around symbolism, colors and abstract expressions.
Therefore it is a matter of pride and responsibility, to be among the selected few, who bring fresh ideas to this culture and create new horizons. And, I am exceptionally happy, because my first photography book is considered to have done that on some level. I do realize the responsibility behind this, and I strive to contribute further with my craft and ideas. But, for now if you are in Delhi, don’t miss out the Art-Book exhibition at Shridharani gallery, in Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi – India.
